Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 27 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. There are more than 10,000 members globally and with Tucson's addition, 439 city-based hubs across 150 countries.
A Shapers hub self-organizes to create projects that address the needs of their city and community at large. Projects are wide-ranging- from combating poverty, fighting climate change, supporting disadvantaged groups with business development, creating inclusive communities, and more. Shapers are diverse in expertise, education, income, and race, but unite together with a desire to bring about change.
What makes this initiative different, is the opportunity to create an impact on a global scale by joining forces with other hubs. Shapers have direct access to thousands of individuals globally and have one of the largest global youth impact networks including princes, mayors, entrepreneurs, and so many more. The Tucson Hub, now officially formed, is seeking several additional members to join its founding cohort as the hub is established. Applications for the founding cohort will be accepted through February 1st, 2021, then general membership after that point.
