Now Accepting Applications for 2020 Cohort
Women face additional barriers when it comes to launching and building companies, particularly in the technology fields. In the research and in our conversations with tech founders, one area that can be impacted is creating greater visibility, stronger networks, and hands-on professional development opportunities for women interested in developing technology companies.
Startup Tucson Women in Technology Fellows are community-oriented, tech-enthusiasts, who are interested in gaining experience in the tech startup world, while increasing the diversity and number of female-tech founded companies in Southern Arizona.
Together, we amplify your efforts to make a lasting impact.
As a Startup Tucson Women in Technology Fellow, you will join a tight-knit cohort of dedicated, exceptional women, working to build events, education, and supportive networks to increase the number and diversity of female-founded tech companies in Southern Arizona. Each cohort will have access to a number of female tech mentors, in addition to a dedicated Mentor-In-Residence.
Through this stipend position, fellows will spend about 10 hours a month researching, planning and executing strategies to encourage more women to consider technology and support those who are already building tech companies here in Tucson.
This fellowship, in addition to building lifelong relationships and mentors, will help propel fellows own careers and professional development goals. Over time-- as each successive year of fellows graduate--the Startup Tucson Women in Technology Fellowship becomes a strong alumni force of supporters, accountability partners, and social networks for women in technology in our region.
From the many applicants, we will select only between 3-5 for the first cohort. We will be looking for women with diverse backgrounds and experiences with technology, STEM, and business. Whether you are a Computer Science Phd or just "tech-curious", a primary qualification is a passion for building community.
This fellowship program is in its inaugural year and was supported through a Small Business Administration award.
