[CS]² Scratch Day

Do you have an itch to learn about computer science? Let’s Scratch it!

Join Startup Tucson and University of Arizona FORGE for [CS]² Scratch Day – a fun, interactive, and casual way to learn about CS! Scratch Day is designed for those with little to no previous experience with computer science and programming. We’ll help you create Scratch projects, MIT's simple coding language/activity that allows you to design and build stories, games, animations, and more. You'll create your projects with the help of our experienced [CS]² mentors and the concepts you learn will provide a useful stepping stone for learning any programming language. This is a low-pressure and enjoyable way to dip your toe into the world of CS! 

Scratch Day includes:

• Developing a project through ideation techniques + building your project. 
• Help and guidance from experienced mentors on developing and creating your project.
• Coffee + breakfast snacks in the morning, and a catered lunch in the afternoon.
• Prizes will be awarded for project reveals at the end of the event! (1) Mentor’s Pick - $200 per team; and (2) People’s Choice - $200 per team

Some additional details about Scratch Day:

• No experience in coding necessary! You actually must have no to minimal experience to register!
• Participants will be grouped into pairs – sign up with a friend, or let us pair you.
• You will need to bring a laptop to this event. If signing up with partner, one of you will need to bring one.
• If you do not have access to a laptop, please reach out to Startup Tucson (info@startuptucson.com) and we will try to accommodate the best we can.
• There will be coffee/snacks in the morning and lunch will be provided.
• For those under 18, you must be at least 12 or older and have an adult present with you for the event. All guests (minors and supervising adults) must register for the event.
