Startup Tucson Participant Agreement

Acknowledgment, Waiver, Code of Conduct, and Media Release

By confirming my participation in a Startup Tucson program, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Hold Harmless & Liability Waiver

I understand that any advice, mentorship, resources, or information provided by Startup Tucson staff, advisors, mentors, or affiliates is offered in good faith, but is not a substitute for professional legal, financial, or business counsel.

I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for all decisions made in the operation of my business and agree to hold harmless Startup Tucson, its staff, contractors, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or losses that may arise from my participation in any Startup Tucson program or reliance on any guidance received.

2. Code of Conduct & Zero-Tolerance Policy

Startup Tucson maintains a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Harassment

  • Discrimination

  • Abuse of power

  • Unprofessional conduct

All participants — including founders, mentors, staff, and community members — are expected to uphold the values of mutual respect, professionalism, inclusion, and collaboration.

Any violation of these standards may result in immediate removal from the program and/or community at Startup Tucson’s sole discretion.

3. Membership & Participation

I understand that:

  • Acceptance into any Startup Tucson program is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of Startup Tucson staff.

  • Startup Tucson reserves the right to deny or revoke participation at any time if my behavior, engagement, or business activities conflict with the mission, values, or safety of the community.

  • Continued participation may require meeting certain engagement or progress expectations, which will be communicated by the program team.

  • To remain active in the Founder’s Network and retain access to member benefits, all members are asked to complete at least one annual business survey per year. This survey ensures Startup Tucson’s compliance with non-profit reporting requirements and allows us to maintain our grant funding, design better programs, and advocate for more resources for local entrepreneurs. All data is de-identified and kept secure. If you do not complete this survey, you will be removed from the Network and must reapply.

4. Photo & Media Release

I grant Startup Tucson permission to capture and use my image, likeness, and/or voice in photographs, video recordings, and other media taken during program activities and events, without payment or other consideration.

I understand that these materials may be used for promotional, educational, or informational purposes in print, digital, or online formats, and may be shared with media outlets or program partners.

If I wish to opt out of being photographed or recorded, I will notify Startup Tucson staff in writing before participating in events or activities.
